A historic 3-day crossing to the Istmo de Ofqui, with camping at Playa San Quintín and one of the longest white-sand beaches in Chile.

In the early 20th century, the Chilean State undertook an ambitious connectivity project to improve maritime communication between the Magallanes and Puerto Montt regions. The plan involved building a canal through the Istmo de Ofqui, south of Laguna San Rafael, which would not only better connect the country's regions but also support a colonization project and the use of natural resources in the then-emerging Aysén region. For various reasons the project never went ahead, and today the remains of the canal sit within an impressive evergreen forest, surrounded by a vast wetland. On this program, we take you to discover this area, which leads to one of the longest white-sand beaches in Chile. For ages 12 and up. Departures with a minimum of 2 and maximum of 8 people. This is an adventure program: the area is very humid and marshy, it is isolated, and the nearest medical center is 300 km away — it is essential that travelers are aware of this condition. 2026-2027 season rate: — $1,250,000 CLP p.p. departing from Bahía Exploradores — $1,280,000 CLP p.p. departing from Puerto Tranquilo
